No. The Free plan never asks for payment details. You add a payment method only when you start a paid plan or its free trial.
The daily quota, the articles per request, freshness, and historical data. The Free plan has 100 requests per day, up to 10 articles per request, a 12-hour delay, and the last 30 days of historical data. Paid plans go from 1,000 to 25,000 requests per day and up to 100 articles per request, with real-time articles, historical data since 2020, full article content, browser requests from any origin, and email support. Start the 10-day free trial of any paid plan from the Pricing page. You add a payment method, and if you cancel before the trial ends, you won't be charged. The trial is available once per account. You can't use data retrieved during a trial that doesn't become a paid subscription for commercial purposes.
No. A commercial project needs a paid plan for as long as it uses GNews API. The Free plan is for personal, academic, evaluation, and other non-commercial use; developing and testing an integration that isn't published or in production yet is not commercial use. Commercial use means any product, service, or project that is sold, earns revenue, or is used in the course of a business. Accounts that break this rule can be suspended or closed. Full conditions are in the Terms of Service.

Custom plans start from the Essential plan: raise the daily quota and the articles per request, choose your support level, and ask for features we don't offer as standard. Contact us with the volume and the features you need. Custom plans are paid plans only.
Yes, on paid plans: content holds the full text of the article. On the Free plan, it is cut to 250 characters. On any plan, add truncate=content to get the shorter version.
The API returns 403 until the quota resets at 00:00 UTC. Unused requests don't carry over to the next day. Follow your usage on the dashboard, and upgrade when you need more requests per day.
Stripe processes all payments. You can pay by card, including Cartes Bancaires, or with Alipay, Amazon Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Link, PayPal, or SEPA Direct Debit. The checkout page shows the methods available for your country and device. Your payment details go to Stripe and never reach our servers.
  1. Go to the Change Plan page from Plan & Billing.
  2. Pick the plan and the billing frequency.
  3. Check the billing summary, then confirm.

The new limits apply right away. A yearly plan can't move back to monthly billing.

An upgrade charges the prorated price difference right away. With a downgrade, you won't be charged today: the prorated price difference becomes a credit on your account balance, deducted from your next invoices. Both keep your renewal date. Moving from monthly to yearly billing starts a new yearly period today: you pay the yearly price minus proration. During a trial, you won't be charged: the new plan's price applies when the trial ends. Every adjustment appears in your invoices on Plan & Billing.
Yes, at no cost:
  1. Go to Plan & Billing.
  2. Click Cancel subscription.
  3. Pick a reason, then confirm.

You keep your plan until the end of the period you've paid for; your account then moves to the Free plan. Until that date, Resume subscription on the same page undoes the cancellation, and so does changing your plan. If you cancel during a trial, you won't be charged.

You can ask for a refund within 7 days of your initial subscription or of a renewal, if you haven't made any request in that period. A first payment made without a free trial can't be refunded. Email contact@gnews.io with a short explanation. We review requests within 3 to 5 business days, and an approved refund usually reaches your account 5 to 10 business days later. Requests we consider fraudulent or abusive can be refused. Full details are in the Terms of Service.
It keeps working, and your account moves to the Free plan: 100 requests per day, a 12-hour delay, and the last 30 days of historical data. The right to use the API in a commercial project ends with the subscription, including on the Free plan. Data you retrieved while subscribed can stay in your project. Resubscribe and the paid limits apply again.
Stripe retries the payment up to 4 times over two weeks and emails you each time. Pay the past-due invoice, or change your payment method, on Plan & Billing during that window to keep your subscription. If every attempt fails, the subscription ends and your account moves to the Free plan.
